JOE: Testimonials

My name is Joe and my job is to turn the water on and off for anyone attending the Gunanur market, both vendors and customers.  I have been doing this job as a volunteer for the past 4 weeks.  Some people travel a long way to come to this market now, because the main market in Kokopo town is closed, so I tell anyone that comes here that they must wash their hands before they come and walk around inside this market.  I do this job because it is important for us to follow all of the rules that have been set out by the controller during this State of Emergency in PNG, but especially that all people must wash their hands.

We are afraid of the coronavirus, it is not something we have experienced before.  It’s a sickness that we have heard is all around the world and so we are very afraid of it, but we do not think the sickness will affect PNG because it is a Christian country and God will stop it from coming to PNG.  We might fear coronavirus about 50%, but we fear God more, and God is here so he can stop coronavirus from coming here.

Yes, I think market food and greens is helping us to stay healthy during this time.
